THE INTERNET ADAPTER (tm) PORT PROGRAM
Revision .2 (8/16/94)
The following table summarizes the development status for ports of The
Internet Adapter (TIA):
Hardware Operating System Available
--------------------------------------------------
Sun Sparc Solaris 2.x now
Sun Sparc SunOS 4.1.x now
386/486 BSDI 1.0 now
386/486 BSDI 1.1 now
386/486 SCO 8/31/94
Anticipating the demand for additional ports, Cyberspace Development,
Inc. (CSD) has instituted the TIA Port Program. The Port Program
allows interested system administrators to provide the GNU tools and
access privileges on their host required to build and test a TIA port.
In exchange, CSD is offering discounts on Host and Site licenses.
CSD is currently preparing a form to gather the information necessary
to consider a site for the Port Program -- look for it in the next few
days. In the meantime, however, interested system administrators are
welcome to submit port requests directly to:
tia-ports@marketplace.com
Please include details about your hardware and operating system, the
number of hosts and users involved, and the type of TIA license you
would like. We will give precedence to Port Program requests in this
order:
1) Overall demand for a particular platform.
2) Site or multiple host licenses.
3) The speed with which we create a particular port.
We will try to respond to your request as soon as possible, however,
we are already inundated with port requests and may not be able to
respond to them all immediately.
If you send us a port request, we will notify you via e-mail as soon
as your port is ready. In the meantime, to check on the status of TIA
ports, you can:
a) Request this document again (tia-port-form@marketplace.com --
updates to the port status table will be posted every few days).
b) Check the list on our TIA Web page at URL http://marketplace.com/
c) Join the TIA Mailing List by sending e-mail to
tia-broadcast-request@marketplace.com (a notice of finished ports
and planned ports will be posted periodically).
Thank you for your interest in The Internet Adapter, and we look
forward to accomodating your platform as soon as possible!
